Networking is great and it should be one of your daily habits – meeting and getting to know people expands our horizons and opportunities. But are you maximizing our efforts and growing your email list? That’s what we’ll discuss today.
Here we go! Two categories of business we network with are: B2B and B2C.
With B2B, when we exchange business cards, be sure to look at it and see if their cell number is on it. If Not, ask for it. It will save you time and frustration in getting around the gatekeeper. It’d also be good to get a personal email by simply asking “is this the best email to reach you at”? Many times, people will say…let me give you my personal email. The reason for this as most of you know is many times a personal email from you to a business email will land in the spam file and never get read.
In a B2C, it’s the same situation but what I’ve been finding a lot lately is many entrepreneurs are only putting their web URL on the card and no email or if email is there, the font is some small you can’t read it. So, once again, sincerely ask for the best way to contact them – I assume I’ll get both – cell and email.
Of course, the best, best way is to pull out your phone and exchange information right then and there.
But, sometimes, depending on the situation, that may not be possible. But if you consistently try to get that information, your email list will not only continue to grow in number but it’ll also grow in revenue generating opportunities which really is the name of the game.
I hope you got value from this. And hey – I’d like to hear how you approach building your email list. It’s your biggest asset – except of course for your smiling face!!
